Did you get played on, Mother's Day? Every year, our people get suckered into going all-out on this day, spending millions to prove to their mother, grandmother, wife, favorite aunties, etc., etc., how much they really love them. Maybe you took your loved one to dinner, bought her flowers or jewelry or went to church with her [upon her request].
But, did you know that God gives us the specific date for when we're supposed to show our love to our mothers, and it's not on so-called, Mother's Day? Exodus 20:12 {KJV} says:
“Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.”
Didn’t catch the date? That’s because it's EVERYDAY.
He even tells us again in, Deuteronomy chapter 5 {KJV} and in Matthew 15:4 {KJV}Christ says,
"For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death."
So, if you don't honour your mother [and father] everyday, and wait until one day in May, when society tells you to do it -- but happen to disrespect them on one of the other 364 days of the year -- then you're even in danger of death! It's that serious people!
Honestly, God actually HATES Mother’s Day. In, Amos 5:21 {KJV} He tells us,
“I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.”
What are these "feast days?" They include: Mother’s Day, Father’s Day (coming up next), July 4th, CHRISTMAS, Cinco de Mayo, Halloween, Thanksgiving – and the list truly goes on and on.
Plus, God declares which days are special days and Holy Days (i.e. hol-i-days), when it says in, Ecclesiasticus/Sirach (The Apocrypha) 33:7-9
“Why doth one day excel another, when as all the light of every day in the year is of the sun?
v.8 By the knowledge of the Lord they were distinguished: and he altered seasons and feasts.
v.9 Some of them hath He made high days, and hallowed them, and some of them hath He made ordinary days.” (Note: God’s “high days” and “hallowed” ones can be found in, Leviticus 23rd chapter - High Holy Days)
Here’s a bit of historical trivia: Did you know that several years after she founded Mother’s Day, Anna Jarvis began spending all of her inheritance, and the rest of her life, campaigning against Mother’s Day? She died in poverty because of it, never marrying nor becoming a mother herself. Ironic, isn’t it? So, there you have it. Even the originator of Mother’s Day hated it, but, most importantly, our God hates this day.
Also, if you waited all year long until Mother’s Day to show your mom, grandmom or Big Momma some love, then you ought to be ashamed of yourself! You don't get a gold star or brownie-points for that! As my husband so beautifully put it, “Love is unconditional and cannot be contained on just one day.”
Some of you may say, "But Mother’s Day is a tradition in our family" or " a tradition in our church." But Christ said in Mark 7:9 {KJV},
“And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep YOUR OWN TRADITION.”
So, if you celebrated [so-called] Mother's Day, then basically, satan had you spending all your dough on a day that God hates. You know what happens when you don’t listen to God? – you get played like a sucka!
